E.K. Larson was born and raised in Colorado. Like many kids in the '80s, he became interested in Science Fiction through movies like Star Wars and Blade Runner. He also began reading some of the classic authors of Sci-Fi, including Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, William Gibson, and Glen Cook.
He studied history at the University of Colorado and joined the Air Force, serving on deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. His love of history, interest in architecture and urban planning, his experiences overseas - and seeing what other veterans experienced- helped inspire many of the events and the 'feel' in his books. So too did movies like "Ghost in the Shell," "Sicario," and "Interstellar," plus time spent playing games like Civilization and Perfect Dark.
Today, he lives in England with his family - his wife, daughter, and cat. He especially enjoys traveling and visiting new places.
James Mallory, Captain of the NASA spaceship Magellan, wakes from cryo-sleep to discover that nuclear war has devastated Earth, and he and his crew - light-years from home and nearing a potentially habitable world around the star Apollo - are humanity's only hope of survival. Two-hundred years later, humankind has carved out a foothold on that new world, full of lush alien forests, barren deserts, and metropolises packed to the brim with greedy mega-corporations, vice-filled nightlife, and dangerous slums. Allie, a senator's daughter, flees the tech-addicted upper-class society she was born into in favor of a technology-free haven, unaware that danger stalks her footsteps. Jack, an aging former soldier, is haunted by nightmares of a war-time atrocity - a memory he can only dull through intoxication. The hands of fate will cross their paths and force them into a collision course with ruthless corporate autocrats, unscrupulous rebel factions, elite government agents, and the mysterious disappearance of Captain James Mallory himself, who vanished after landing two hundred years ago.
